Eye Candy has again been praised for their excellence, winning the Digital Media category at the 2008 Desktop Create Awards. Up against some of Australia’s best-known animation studios, the team won the award for their popular Old Parliament House commercial, Talking Walls.
Held in Melbourne late last month, the awards celebrated some of the greatest illustration, photography, website design, print, student design and more importantly, animation, within the Australian creative industry.
The team’s creative directors, Damian Stocks and Rachael Johnson, flew down for the event and were happily surprised to return home with the prize. “We hadn’t expected to win, so it was just an added bonus to an enjoyable night,” Johnson said. Hosted by comedian, Dave Callan, the event was a great opportunity to mingle with other creative elites within the industry.
This was the first year the Create Awards featured a Digital Media category and it proved popular with many successful animation and digital media studios entering work. Four of Eye Candy’s entries were short listed within the category, including their short film, Bees Knees. “Having so many projects short listed for the awards is a great illustration of the hard work and dedication of our team,” said Stocks.
The judging for the award considered the technical skill, creative execution and power of the message of each animation.
